Our CEO, Liz Robert, reports on last week’s annual Bicycle Leadership Conference in Monterey, where all the industry movers and shakers gather to address the challenges and opportunities of cycling.
This year we talked about what the industry can do to encourage more women into cycling. It’s the only segment of the market that’s growing!
- Improve safety of roads.
- Train shops to be inviting and accessible, and less elite white male oriented (yes the guys talked about this hard truth).
- Emphasize greater overall well being from being outside vs spinning in the studio.
Speaking of getting outside, we also rode bikes from Monterey to Carmel along the Monterey Bike Path and 17 Mile Drive, the incredibly scenic, mostly flat and surprisingly quiet road meandering along the coastline.
What to wear in northern California where a new Minimalist Makeover is happening (a simplification of bike jersey styling, led by us, of course):
Happy Riding,
Liz
